VICTORY FIVE vs LGD GAMING LPL SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW
Victory Five and LGD Gaming will lock horns for the first time in over two months on Friday during the second week of League of Legends Pro League (LPL) Summer 2020.
Victory Five enter their third match of the split with a perfect 2-0 record, which sits them at the top of the league next to another surprise leader in Suning. V5 took down Dominus Esports (2-0) with relative ease in the first week and began their journey into the second with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Oh My God.
The recently acquired bottom lane tandem of ADC Lee “Samd” Jae-hoon and substitute support Guo “ppgod” Peng were phenomenal in all three maps against OMG. Other players worthy of praise are jungler Wei “Weiwei” Bo-Han and mid laner Li “Mole” Hao-Yan, who have put up some of the highest marks in their respective roles so far.

LGD Gaming won their opening fixture of the split against the young eStar on Monday (2-1) and with that started their climb to the organisation’s first post-season appearance since LPL Spring 2016. Last split they finished 15th with a disastrous 5-11 record, but that kind of form is nothing new for a team that ran 14th in LPL Summer 2019 and 11th in LPL Spring 2019.
Given those results, it was unsurprising to see LGD invest in a few new players over the off-season. They brought in top laner Fang “Garvey” Jia-Wei, who spent four months at LGD Youth Team, ex-Royal Never Give Up top laner Xie “Langx” Zhen-Ying, former Dominus Esports mid laner Su “xiye” Han-Wei and his former teammate Ling “Mark” Xu.
Langx, xiye and Mark all made their debuts in the first week of the split and look likely to keep their spots as starters on Friday. We did not see any standout performances from those three on Monday, however, so perhaps there is a chance LGD will look to try out new combinations and take full advantage of their nine-man roster.
VICTORY FIVE vs LGD GAMING LPL SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS
While LGD Gaming might field better individual quality than Victory Five, we are not too sure whether the odds for this matchup show the real balance of power.
The main concern we have with LGD is that over half of their active roster is assembled from new arrivals, which could harm their synergy. While the same can be said for Victory Five, they looked much more organised in their opening two fixtures.
LGD’s bottom lane did not impress against eStar, which suggests they will struggle against Samd and ppgod. While we can expect Han “Peanut” Wang-ho to do his job and help his bottom lane, that will leave Langx playing on the weak side of the map, which won’t help LGD’s win condition.
V5 might not be the stronger team overall, but they have shown more than enough to suggest they can take one map and make LGD work for the win.
