Yasin Nisqy Din?er, MAD Lions star player, was awarded the MVP title of the 2022 League of Legends European Championship Summer Split. The player handled the role of mid laner in the esports team and caught the eye of several esports experts and fans due to his performance this season.

After announcing the All-Pro Team and Rookie of the Split, fans waited with bated breath for the winner of the most coveted title to be announced. The MVP award is usually given to the LEC player who played the most part in their teams success. This includes helping them get important wins in the LEC playoff run-offs and performing in top form during the game.

Nisqy was among one the favorites to receive the award after finishing in the opening All-Pro Team held this summer. The player also earned seven Player of the Game awards, the most recorded in the regular season.

The mid laner received 124 MVP votes in total from broadcast partners, teams, casters, and affiliated media. The votes were double that of the runner-up, his MAD Lions teammate, Javier “Elyoya” Prades, who came in second. Rasmus “caPs” Winther, G2s midlaner, finished in third place, but he has been awarded three MVP awards in his career.

The MVP award is Nigsys first, but he was previously a part of two All-Pro teams, first in North America (Spring 2020) and then in Europe (Summer 2022). He is the third mid laner to be given the title since it started in 2014. Caps was the first, and then Vincent Vetheo Berri, the most recent winner in spring 2022.

Nisqy joined the MAD Lions in May this year and helped the team reach second place with a 12-6 record at the end of the regular season despite being unable to qualify for the spring playoffs. He was signed onto the team after being away from professional play for six months.

He previously played with Fnatic, and went on to part ways with the team after performing poorly in the 2021 League of Legends World Championship. In December of that year, Nisqy was moved to a substitute position in the squad but did not find a new team in time for the 2022 season.

In order to sign on the player, MAD Lions player Steven Reeker Che was moved to a LFL team, BDS Academy, earlier. Nisqys performance was undoubtedly integral to the teams improvement this season.

The MAD Lions were previously unable to qualify for the playoffs for the 2022 LEC Spring Split and finished the tournament in seventh place. The team earned an 8-10 record, much different from when they won both splits in 2021.

Nisqy earned a 4.3 KDA in the regular season, and an impressive 75.2 percent kill participation. The player is expected to earn another MVP award in the playoffs. He was previously named as the preferred gamer to win the MVP award by past MVP winners like Caps and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski.

MAD Lions began their summer split journey on August 26, with a game against Rogue. Despite being close favorites with moneyline odds of $1.88 and $1.97 for Rogue with the top betting sites, MAD Lions lost to Rogue. Due to the 2-3 defeat, the Spanish franchise made an early exit from the playoffs.

The winner of the summer split will be crowned the domestic champion and automatically qualify for the highly anticipated 2022 World Championship. Four European teams will reportedly represent the region in the international event in a bid to clinch a large chunk of the $2,225,000 prize pool.

Back-to-back LEC Champions MAD Lions are considering a change of personnel in the mid-laner position, which could see Steven “Reeker” Chen relegated to the bench or out of the team.

According to Jaxon, sources revealed that the team is already searching for another mid-laner to replace Reeker ahead of the LEC 2022 Summer Split, with other organizations indicating an interest in the German.

Via Twitter:

“According to my sources, back to bar disappointing run in the group stage. They finished outside of the top six with an 8-10 record, making them ineligible to get a piece of the EUR 200,000 prize pck #LEC champions @MadLions are set to bench @ReekerKaizen.

Many teams have expressed interest in the german midlaner, including @IbaiLlanos’ #SuperligaLoL team @KOI.”

Reeker joined MAD Lions in November 2021 from BIG ahead of the 2022 Spring Split. He came in as a replacement for Marek “Humanoid” Brzda who left the team for Fnatic.

William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen is another newcomer who joined the team in November, but it seems like the organization is happy with his contributions. The Swede joined as the team’s shooter from SK Gaming.

It is clear that the organization does not think he is a great fit, especially after they failed to secure a spot in the playoffs. They finished seventh in the group standings with an 8-10 record, making them ineligible to feature in the playoffs or get a piece of the EUR $200,000 prize pool.

Although they won three consecutive games in Week 8, it was not enough to make up for the heap of losses they accumulated earlier in the competition.

For a team that won both seasons of the LEC in 2021, you can see why this is an unacceptable result, and they will be looking to stop the bleeding before things get out of hand. Although they have missed the Mid-Season Invitational this year, there is a chance they will make it to the 2022 World Championship.

While MAD Lions might be done with the 20-year-old, two Super League teams – Giants and KOI – are looking to snatch the Valorant player.

KOI has already started making big changes to its roster ahead of the 2022 Superliga. They have signed former Astralis top laner Matti WhiteKnight Sormunen and experienced coach Danusch Arvindir Fischer.

The Spanish team had a decent run in the Superliga Spring, finishing one spot out of the EU Masters qualification. With the quality of changes being made, there is a chance they will have a better campaign in the second half of the 2022 season.

Reeker is yet to have a long stint with any organization as the 20-year-old has moved around a lot. His longest campaign came during his time at BIG where he spent 17 months.

To replace Reeker, MAD Lions reportedly have their eyes on former Fnatic star Yasin “Nisqy” Din?er and Misfits Gaming’s Vincent “Vetheo” Berri.

The 2022 Summer Split will not commence until June, giving MAD Lions ample time to figure out a winning formula.
