FaZe Clan have secured a playoff spot at ESL Pro League Season 20, avenging their opening loss to Sangal with a 2-0 victory, winning on Anubis (13-11) and Dust2 (13-5).

After a shaky performance earlier in the Counter-Strike 2 tournament, FaZe’s recovery was driven by strong performances from H?vard “?rain?” Nygaard, David “?frozen?” ?eransky, and Robin “?ropz?” Kool.

Their counter-terrorist side on Anubis laid the foundation for rain to shine in the offensive half, while Dust2 saw a dominant FaZe performance, with Finn “?karrigan?” Andersen rallying his team loudly throughout.

Sangal, after defeating FaZe in their opening matchup, couldn’t build on that momentum.

They suffered defeats to Eternal Fire and FaZe, falling to the Last Chance Stage, where they will face FlyQuest.

FaZes recent form marks a shift after early exits from BLAST Premier Fall Groups and IEM Cologne.

Now, with an impressive run at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown and solid improvements at ESL Pro League, they are back in playoff contention.

Meanwhile, Team Spirit also earned a playoff berth after reverse-sweeping 3DMAX.

Despite losing the first map on Anubis (6-13), Spirit bounced back with dominant wins on Ancient (13-6) and Nuke (13-2), powered by standout performances from Danil “?donk?” Kryshkovets and Myroslav “?zont1x?” Plakhotia.

In the Last Chance Stage, KOI and Lynn Vision were eliminated after losses to Wildcard and FlyQuest, respectively.

FlyQuest managed to stave off elimination in a hard-fought series against Lynn Vision, while Wildcard continues their tournament run after defeating KOI.

The MongolZ and 9z have also dropped into the Last Chance Stage following losses to Spirit and 3DMAX.

The MongolZ took Spirit to the brink but couldn’t close the series, while 9z’s defeat leaves them struggling to regain their early-season form after setbacks at IEM Cologne and BetBoom Dacha.

Spirit’s playoff berth was hard-fought, having earlier survived a scare from Wildcard and losing to MIBR.

Their recovery, alongside FaZe’s resurgence, adds intrigue as the tournament heads into the final stages.

Saturday’s ESL Pro League fixtures

MIBR secured a spot in the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 20 after a hard-fought 2-1 (2-13, 13-7, 16-13) victory over Spirit in the Group B upper bracket semi-finals.

Coming off a win against 9z, MIBR initially struggled, losing their Ancient pick 13-2.

However, they bounced back with a strong 6-0 start on the counter-terrorist side of the second map, comfortably tying the Counter-Strike series.

The decider, Anubis, went into overtime, where MIBR emerged victorious despite a fierce comeback from Spirit, led by Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

Spirit will drop into the lower bracket and will face The MongolZ, who decisively beat KOI 2-0 (13-1, 13-0) in just 81 minutes, where they only lost one round across the two maps.

The Mongolians dominated, with standout performances from Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch and Munkhbold “Senzu” Azbayar, both boasting over a 2.00 rating.

KOI now faces elimination in the Last Chance Stage against Wildcard, who were convincingly beaten by 9z Team 2-0 (13-6, 13-10) in the lower bracket of Group B.

Elsewhere, both Heroic and Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) are in the Last Chance Stage after defeats in their lower bracket semi-finals.

Heroic let an 11-3 lead slip on Nuke against Sangal, losing the series despite a strong showing from Guy “NertZ” Iluz and Abdul “degster” Gasanov on Mirage.

NiP pushed FaZe Clan to the limit but eventually crumbled in the decider on Dust2, where H?vard “rain” Nygaard led FaZe to an 11-1 halftime advantage, before claiming the final map 13-1.

G2 Esports also secured a playoff spot after defeating 3DMAX 2-1 (10-13, 13-6, 13-7) and set up a clash with MIBR in the upper bracket final, with the winner set to earn a quarter-final spot in the playoffs.

Friday’s ESL Pro League fixtures

ESL Pro League Season 20 begins on Tuesday, September 3, with the opening series of the group stage. Here, you can find our free Counter-Strike 2 betting picks for FlyQuest vs Eternal Fire, FaZe Clan vs Sangal Esports, HEROIC vs Ninjas in Pyjamas, and MiBR vs 9z Team.

After a month’s break from European competitions, FlyQuest will take another go at leaving their mark at ESL Pro League Season 20. However, they are not expected to do well, and esports betting sites have them priced at $4.24 for Tuesday’s clash.

Eternal Fire are far from one of the leading candidates to hoist the trophy in Malta, but they have done well in their most recent outings, with comfortable victories against B8, Cloud9, 9Pandas, and Team Falcons. Before that, the Turkish squad produced a few less convincing displays against weaker squads, so consistency is still missing.

FlyQuest are in good form, and while all of their recent victories came against lesser regional opponents, they posted good results against higher-rated opposition before the summer break and even at the start of August. As such, it is fair to expect the Australian squad can do some damage.

FaZe Clan should be in for a field day when they face off against Sangal Esports for the first time. But while Sangal are a much lower-rated team on the global Counter-Strike standings, they have found some serious momentum lately.

They won CCT Season 2 European Series #6 and Series #7 and, just over a week ago, placed second at Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European Qualifier A. With an incredible 18-3 record since the start of July, Sangal Esports seem to be set to make a splash in Malta.

FaZe Clan are serious title contenders; however, they have produced some unconvincing performances over the last few weeks against Rare Atom, paiN Gaming, and OG, so it is not entirely unlikely that Sangal Esports take a map off them.

HEROIC vs NINJAS IN PYJAMAS CS2 BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Heroic $1.42 at GG Bet | NiP $2.83 at GG Bet

HEROIC have not come close to winning a tournament since placing top four at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #1. However, Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski and co. have recently found some traction with four wins over their last six series.

Ninjas in Pyjamas are 3-7 from their last 10 and on a four-game losing streak. They did well to upset Cloud9 and FaZe Clan at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 earlier this month, but that means very little after their most recent outings.

HEROIC are not in the best shape, and they lost their last meeting with Ninjas in Pyjamas in June. However, unlike Ninjas in Pyjamas, HEROIC have shown some improvement and should not struggle to come away with a comfortable victory.

MIBR vs 9Z TEAM CS2 BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: MIBR $2.57 at GG Bet | 9z $1.50 at GG Bet

MiBR and 9z Team last clashed in the second round of Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024, when 9z won in two maps. They needed overtime on Ancient but crushed the Brazillians on Nuke with 13-2, so the game was not particularly close.

Since then, 9z Team have won just one of five games played, including losses to Astralis, Team Falcons, and paiN Gaming (twice). MiBR, on the other side, have won three games over the same stretch, albeit against BESTIA and two against Hype Esports.

MiBR seem to be in better form, but Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez and his crew have a better map pool, stronger results against more formidable opponents, and are up in the head-to-head stakes. Barring any surprises, 9z Team should come out ahead.

Team Spirit was seeking to become the fourth team in Counter-Strike history to claim both IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne in the same year; however, their campaign has been swiftly ended by G2 Esports.

The world number two entered IEM Cologne 2024 as the $3.50 favourite with esports betting sites, but after falling to The Mongolz in the opening round, Spirit were faced with a daunting task against G2 in the lower bracket to remain in the tournament.

G2, who were also upset by a play-in stage qualifier, had their IEM Cologne title defence dealt an early blow after suffering a 0-2 loss against SAW.

The do-or-die series began on Spirit’s map pick of Nuke, and it was Nemanja ‘huNter-‘ Kova? who started off hot for G2, recording five kills in the first two rounds to set the tone.

The Kova? cousins, Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kova? and huNter-, dominated for G2 in the first half, propelling the squad to a 9-3 halftime lead.

Three first-half rounds would be the only round wins that Spirit claimed, as G2 quickly wrapped up the map 13-3.

Only Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets cracked double-digit kills (10), while Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotia struggled with four kills and 37.9 ADR on Nuke.

Following a lacklustre performance on their map, Spirit was tasked with playing G2’s pick of Mirage.

However, G2 started Mirage with four straight rounds on the terrorist side before Spirit won their first, thanks to three kills from zont1x.

Unfortunately for Spirit, G2 continued their dominance and finished the half with a massive 11-1 lead before closing out the series with a 13-1 demolition.

Spirit has been sent packing from IEM Cologne following an embarrassing performance, which saw them win just four rounds in the clash with G2.

9z Team joined Spirit in last place after they were eliminated from Cologne by paiN Gaming in a back-and-forth three-map series, with paiN completing the reverse sweep after losing the first map.

Meanwhile, Natus Vincere (NaVi) and SAW secured their spots in the LANXESS Arena following their victories in the Group A upper bracket semi-finals.

NaVi proved too strong for Astralis and took the series 2-0 (13-4, 13-7).

SAW was pushed to their limits against The Mongolz, as they played all three maps and eventually claimed the series 2-1 (13-16, 13-7, 13-10).

The IEM Cologne group stage will continue on Monday, with two elimination matches scheduled to kick off the day.

The IEM Cologne play-in stage witnessed intense matchups as teams battled for a spot in the coveted group stage.

In a series of thrilling Counter-Strike clashes, FURIA, 9z Team, Falcons, The MongolZ, and paiN Gaming emerged victorious, advancing to the next phase of the tournament.

FURIA secured their place in the group stage after a hard-fought 2-1 (13-11, 8-13, 13-11) win over Heroic in the lower bracket.

The Brazilian squad, led by Felipe “?skullz?” Medeiros, delivered a standout performance.

Skullz shone on Mirage with a 1.41 rating, playing a crucial role in a final-round 2v5 clutch alongside Kaike “?KSCERATO?” Cerato.

Though FURIAs decision to pick Anubis backfired, they recovered on Nuke, where skullz’ pivotal plays on the terrorist side kept them in the game.

A clutch 1v3 attempt by Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski was thwarted, and despite a brief scare at 12-10, FURIA closed out the match thanks to skullz’s triple kill in the final round.

9z continued their impressive run by defeating regional rivals MIBR 2-0 (16-13, 13-2) to secure a group stage spot.

After a tight battle on Ancient, where 9z staged a comeback from a likely defeat, they dominated Nuke.

MIBR showed initial promise with a clever play in yard but were outplayed by 9zs tactical prowess.

A near-heroic 1vs5 attempt by Raphael “?exit?” Lacerda was denied by Franco “?dgt?” Garcia, as 9z cruised to a 13-2 victory to close out the series.

Falcons overcame BIG 2-1 (13-7, 10-13, 13-10) in a three-map series to qualify for the group stage.

The win was a much-needed morale boost for Falcons, with Emil “?Magisk?” Reif praising lvaro “?SunPayus?” Garcas standout performance.

BIG’s pick of Dust2 proved disastrous as they fell behind 2-10 in the first half.

Although they made a minor comeback, Falcons’ victory was never in doubt.

Mirage was more competitive, with BIG breaking their losing streak on the map thanks to a desert eagle 4k from Rigon “?rigoN?” Gashi.

However, Falcons closed out the series on Anubis, with SunPayus leading the charge on the counter-terrorist side.

The MongolZ secured their group stage spot after a nail-biting 2-1 (4-13, 13-8, 16-14) victory over Eternal Fire.

The Mongolian team rebounded from a rough start on Anubis and capitalized on a shaky performance from Ismailcan “?XANTARES?” D?rtkarde? on Mirage.

Despite a strong counter-terrorist half from XANTARES on Nuke, The MongolZ’s aggressive plays, particularly from Garidmagnai “?bLitz?” Byambasuren, helped them secure the win in overtime.

Eternal Fire’s leader, Engin “?MAJ3R?” Kpeli, took responsibility for the loss, citing strategic errors on the terrorist side of Nuke.

In a domestic derby, paiN defeated MIBR 2-1 (13-10, 4-13, 13-3) to clinch the final group stage spot.

The series began with a close contest on Mirage, with paiN edging out a 13-10 win thanks to a crucial play by Rodrigo “?biguzera?” Bittencourt.

MIBR bounced back on Anubis, dominating with a 13-4 victory.

However, paiN responded with a commanding performance on Vertigo, where a second-round forcebuy set the tone for their 13-3 victory.

The win secured paiNs place in the group stage, while MIBR was eliminated from the tournament after back-to-back losses on the final day of the play-in stage.

These teams will now join the group stage of IEM Cologne, where they will face even tougher competition in their quest for the title.

Intel Extreme Masters Cologne is one of the most presitigious Counter-Strike events on the calendar, and the tournament kicked off with the opening day of the play-in stage on Wednesday.

The first day produced some upset results, with The Mongolz and Heroic going down as the esports betting sites’ favourite in their opening best-of-three series.

The Mongolz are on the brink of elimination at IEM Cologne after a 1-2 loss to SAW, faltering on defence.

BIG, on the other hand, managed a comeback victory over FlyQuest after initially blowing a 9-3 lead.

These two winners will face off for a spot in the main event of the tournament.

SAW, energised and well-prepared under new head coach Danny “?BERRY?” Krger, overcame a slow start on Anubis.

They trailed 4-8 on the counter-terrorist side but rallied in the second half, exploiting The MongolZ’s weak B bomb site.

Despite a comeback from The Mongolz forcing overtime, SAW secured a 16-13 win.

After The Mongolz won on Ancient, SAW dominated Dust2, with key contributions from Jo?o ‘story’ Vieira, Michel ‘ewjerkz’ Pinto, and Rafael ‘arrozdoce’ Wing, to win 13-5.

BIG’s match against FlyQuest was similarly dramatic.

After trading 9-3 terrorist halves and forcing overtime, FlyQuest took the lead.

BIG responded by winning on Inferno and dominating Vertigo with a 10-0 start.

FlyQuest attempted a comeback, but BIG held on for a 13-11 victory.

MIBR, under new in-game leader Andr “?drop?” Abreu, defeated Heroic 2-1.

Heroic struggled on the defensive side, losing 7-13 on Mirage and Anubis after a strong start on Ancient.

MIBR’s Felipe “?insani?” Yuji and AWPer Rafael “?saffee?” Costa were standout performers.

The next phase will see 3DMAX face Heroic in an elimination match, and 9z Team take on MIBR for a group stage spot.

9z easily defeated 3DMAX 13-3 and 13-4, showcasing star player Franco “?dgt?” Garcia and captain Maximiliano “?max?” Gonzalez.

Eternal Fire is close to securing a spot in the main event after a 2-1 win over Falcons.

The match saw standout performances from Ismailcan “?XANTARES?” D?rtkarde? on Vertigo and ?zgr “?woxic?” Eker on Dust2, despite some sloppy play from both teams.

Team Liquid and FURIA won their opening matches, defeating paiN Gaming and Imperial, respectively.

Liquid, coming off strong performances at BLAST Premier Fall Groups, overcame paiN with solid terrorist-side efforts on Anubis and Inferno.

FURIA’s Brazilian derby against Imperial saw them recover from a disastrous start on Dust2 to win the series 2-1, highlighted by a 13-0 thrashing on Inferno.

FlyQuest and BIG have enough talent on their rosters to qualify for the IEM Cologne 2024 main event. However, it is tough to pick a winner between these two, and betting on the total maps market looks to be the safest play.

4:30pm CEST Eternal Fire ($1.53) Falcons ($2.37) Over $1.83 | Under $1.83

Falcons have yet to win an S-Tier tournament since their inception into Counter-Strike; however, recent results suggest they are improving steadily. Eternal Fire enter this series as favourites, but given the improvement of this Falcons squad, the underdogs can spring a surprise.

7:30pm CEST FURIA ($1.57) Imperial ($2.25) Over $1.83 | Under $1.83

FURIA are heavy favourites to beat Imperial, as they are 16 spots higher in the ESL world rankings. Following a strong performance at the Esports World Cup, it is hard to bet against this new and improved FURIA outfit.

Team Liquid have looked better under the leadership of Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, defeating Natus Vincere twice en route to qualifying for the BLAST Premier Fall Final. PaiN Gaming have been competing against South American teams in qualifiers and A-Tier events, so it is hard to see them beating Liquid in this series.

ESB brings you free Counter-Strike: Global Offensive betting tips for a pair of ThunderPick World Championship 2023: European Series #2 bouts on Friday, September 8. Here are our betting picks for 00 Nation vs Team Singularity and 9z Esports vs MASONIC, with the best CS:GO esports odds courtesy of GG Bet.

00 NATION vs TEAM SINGULARITY CS:GO BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: 00N $1.31 at GG Bet | Singularity $3.25 at GG Bet
When: September 8, 2023 | 16:00 CEST
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/gridesports)

Last month, 00 Nation parted ways with their entire Brazilian CS:GO lineup in favour of a European roster led by former Copenhagen Flames in-game leader Thomas “birdfromsky” Due Frederiksen. The new squad quickly proved its worth and won Pinnacle Cup V at the end of August, jumping 53 spots on the CS:GO world rankings to no.34.

Team Singularity have not made any changes since February 2023, although the team did lose in-game leader Tomasz “freo” Wolski, who left a month ago. Singularity have since played with a couple of stand-ins, winning European Pro League Season 10: Division 2 and placing second at HATOR Series #1, but they’ve yet to find a permanent replacement.

Team Singularity are in a tough spot, missing an in-game leader, but it’s not like this team would have a realistic chance against 00 Nation, even with freo. 00 Nation’s new European lineup has played just one official tournament but looked very good, so it’s hard to doubt their chances to crush Team Singularity on Friday.

9z TEAM vs MASONIC CS:GO BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: 9z $1.54 at GG Bet | MASONIC $2.37 at GG Bet
When: September 8, 2023 | 19:00 CEST

9z Team were in excellent form in July, winning KaBuM! Legends and CCT South America Series #8. But since the start of August, Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez and co. have failed to find as much success.

An early exit from TG Masters Fall 2023 followed by a 9th-16th finish at CCT North Europe Series #7 puts a huge question mark over 9z Team and their ability to deliver in the ThunderPick World Championship. However, most CS:GO bookmakers are projecting the South American side will do well in this matchup.

MASONIC have won just one tournament in 2023 C MistGames Heroes of Lofoten in April C and they haven’t looked good over the last two months. In the first Thunderpick World Championship 2023 qualifiers, they crashed out in 25th-40th place and have since exited CCT Central Europe Series #7 in 23rd-24th and HATOR Series #1 in 13th-16th.

Besides the Danish squad’s poor results, MASONIC are also struggling with roster stability, having lost five players since May. They signed a new squad in July, but even that project didn’t last long, with Andreas “Hansi” Hansen leaving the team to join Alpha Gaming five weeks after his arrival.

9z Team haven’t looked amazing lately, but they’re in a good spot to win this series. 9z Team to sweep is a bit of a bold pick, but at $2.60 with top esports betting sites, it’s a solid value bet.

00NATION and 9z Team have announced the completion of a player swap, with Lucas “nqz” Soares moving to 00NATION and Santino “try” Rigal returning to 9z. The two Counter-Strike: Global Offensive snipers have officially swapped teams between the Argentinian and Brazilian esports franchises in preparation for the 2023 season.

An earlier report in January had indicated that a player exchange between the two teams was imminent, even though nqz was also in talks to join Fluxo at the time. This report has now been confirmed with the official announcements made by both teams.

After spending six months with the team, Nqz has decided to leave 9z. During his time with the team, Nqz was the highest-rated player, boasting a 1.19 rating. The 17-year-old Brazilian was instrumental in helping the South American team qualify for the IEM Rio Major, posting a 1.17 rating during their third-place finish in the IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR tournament.

Nqz confirmed his move to 00Nation to his fans on his official Twitter page, and looks forward to commencing his new journey.

“Happy to announce my new home, looking forward to the new stage and even more looking forward to the chance to represent this giant organization with these great players,” Nqz wrote.

He also bid farewell to his former team and teammates in a Twitlonger post. He thanked the fans of the South American franchise for their continuous support.

“I would like to start by thanking all of you, fans from all over South America, who, even without knowing me, supported me with open arms and encouraged all the moments that this shirt represented, it takes a lot of courage and affection for that, and I love you very much. everyone and I am grateful for everything I lived, experienced and got here,” he said.

“To everyone who has been with me during this time @maxgzez @dgtcsgo @budafps @ dav1deuS_ @roxfps @zakkfps @tgefps @siagfps, I am grateful for all that they have taught me and for all that we have been through together, I came into this team as a player and today I am leaving as a completely different person, you will always have a place in my heart.”

Try, on the other hand, left 00NATION and returned to 9z, the team he represented from February 2020 to January 2022. Despite 00NATION experiencing multiple setbacks, try remained a reliable player for the Brazilian team and ended his time there with a strong 1.13 rating. He was also the only member of the 00NATION lineup to achieve a 1.00+ rating during the IEM Rio Major Challenger Stage.

With the addition of nqz, 00NATION’s roster now consists of Marcelo “coldzera” David, Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer, Bruno “latto” Rebelatto, and in-game leader Epitacio “TACO” de Melo, with Olavo “cky” Napole?o serving as coach.

9z’s lineup, on the other hand, includes Franco “dgt” Garcia, in-game leader Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez, David “dav1deuS” Tapia Maldonado, Nicols “buda” Kramer, and try, with Martin “rox” Molina on the bench.

The player swap marks a significant change for both 00NATION and 9z, with both teams looking to build on their recent performances and make a stronger push in the competitive CS:GO scene. Nqz will bring his impressive skills and experience to 00NATION, while try will look to make a splash in his return to 9z.

It remains to be seen how the player swap will impact the teams’ fortunes, but with both franchises boasting talented rosters and experienced coaches, fans can expect some exciting matches and top-notch gameplay from both sides in the coming season.

Luca “Luken” Nadotti is now free from all team commitments and contract-based ties from 9z Team. This was revealed by both player and the organization in question, as the release was on mutual agreement.

In a TwitLonger tweet, the player stated that he is open to new opportunities/collaborations and wants to remain competing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Presently, he is hoping to secure a team in which he can join and serve in a number of roles, including lurker, in-game leader, and AWP. He also mentioned that he can function in any region, including Europe and North America without any limitations. This is primarily because he speaks three languages: Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

Taking to his social media, the 25 years old Argentinian player did not reveal much about his departure from the team. Although, he expressed his profound gratitude to his team members, and wished them well in all their endeavors. He also stated that he would share more details about his exit subsequently in a stream.

“I will surely explain more on my stream about my exit and what I am looking for in my future since it is much easier for me to express myself and tell you things in words and not in writing.”

He added that:

“It is important that you know that it was a mutual agreement not to continue playing in 9z, I am very grateful to the guys on the team, they are all great people, great teammates, and good players and I wish them the best in everything they personally propose, that I want so much.”

In January 2022, Luken returned to CS:GO after a two-year absence to join the South American team, 9z as a substitute for the exiting teenage star Santino “try” Rigal. Despite some obvious great performances and successes, he will not be staying with the team.

Regardless of his brief time with the team, Luken qualified for the PGL Antwerp Major Challengers Stage. While in 9z he majorly played AWP and has earned an average of 1.11 rating, with 1.04 impact and 0.58 deaths per round, as the team’s AWPer in 2022, according to HLTV.

Luken is almost certain to find a new team shortly. Several teams, particularly those from South America, reshuffle after each Major Championship in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

9z Team – Argentinas top-tier esports organization

The Argentinian top-tier esports team, 9z was founded by Francisco Frankkaster Postiglione, one of the nations most well-known content creators.

Hence, using experience and catering to the demands of players, they have created one of the best player communities in a short amount of time. The squad has over ten years of esports expertise. The ultimate purpose of the 9z Team is to help esports players advance to the next level, through grooming and professional coaching.

Due to its team accomplishments as well as reasonably high-quality production, the 9z Team takes the lead in Argentinian esports. The 9z Tean is most likely going to continue to grow and develop.
